Lower Antelope Canyon is tucked away in Page, Arizona, and is primarily known for its breathtaking slot canyons, vibrant orange hues, and unique landscape. But, a little-known secret about Lower Antelope Canyon is that the fall season typically slows down, there are fewer crowds, and the sun shines a bit differently than during other seasons of the year. Keep reading to learn more about Ken’s Tours and all the fun to expect during the fall season!
Why We Love Fall at Lower Antelope Canyon
If you’ve been to Lower Antelope Canyon in the summer, you know temperatures on the surface, on average, are 93 degrees. In the canyon, however, temperatures can drop 5-10 degrees, which helps! But, when you come to see us during the fall season, those temperatures drop to the mid to low 70s, and you can enjoy the canyon with a light jacket or sweater.
Not only are you looking at cooler temperatures, but you’ll also have space to look around a bit better inside the canyon. With school back in session, the fall season gets a little less busy, and we often have smaller tour groups, a little more time to spend in the canyon, and competing with fewer people to get that perfect shot!
Now for the big secret – the fall sun hits the canyon at a different angle, which creates warmer, softer, and more vibrant orange hues inside the canyon! Photographers especially love this time of year because of the vibrancy of the orange and fewer photobombs from fellow tour group members.
Special Fall Highlights of Lower Antelope Canyon
Not only will you see that the canyon colors shift in vibrancy, but you’ll also witness the surrounding desert flora show subtle seasonal changes. The foliage starts to turn to vibrant yellows, reds, and oranges, which provides many more photo opportunities on your drive to and from Lower Antelope Canyon!
With the fall light, sharper shadows, and vivid colors – it’s a photographer’s dream to drive to Page, Arizona, and see the beauty along the way. You never know, you could capture an award-winning image!
What to Expect on a Fall Tour
During a fall tour, you can expect it to be less busy and a more intimate experience for you and everyone else in your group. Ken’s Tour Guides will show you the best places to take photos depending on the time of day and even snap a few images of you and your family if requested.
We recommend that you bring hiking boots and a light jacket during the fall season because temperatures inside the canyon can be 5-10 degrees different than on the surface. If you’re a photographer, we also recommend that you come early in the morning or late in the afternoon to capture those award-winning photos.
Not only that, but you’ll notice that our gift shop and cafe are also decked out for the fall season! You can get in the fall mood by drinking a pumpkin spice latte or snack on delicious fall-themed pastries!
